The Katekani Luxury Tented Lodge safari is a great alternative to a luxury lodge (Moditlo/Motlala Private Game Reserve).
This safari is great value for money alternative to a Luxury Lodge, as it is a luxury tented lodge (some of the walls are brick and some of the walls are canvas tent). This luxury tented chalet is fully equipped with its own en-suite bathroom with zinc, shower and standard toilet, beds as well as an air conditioner.
The First night of accommodation on this Greater Kruger Safari, is at Tremisana Game Lodge (an affordable good value for money lodge for the budget conscious tourist who likes to socialize), located in Balule Private Game Reserve. The remainder of the nights are accommodated at Katekani Tented Lodge (a 4 Star Lodge with en-suite facilities and private pools).
4 Day / 3 Night Safari Katekani Luxury Tented Lodge
DAY 1:
We collect our clients from all hotels and guesthouses in Gauteng as well as from Johannesburg Airport. We travel via farmlands to the picturesque Lowveld and on to Tremisana Game Lodge in the Balule Section of the Kruger Park. After a short break, during which you may unwind at the bar, have a swim or relax in the tropical gardens, we board the open Landcruiser for a 3h Sunset Drive. Your guide will show you various animals and birds and after darkness falls, we use spotlights to locate nocturnal species. Dinner will be an unforgettable BUSH BRAAI at our Marula Tree Boma. After dinner continue the Night Drive and overnight in comfortable air-conditioned en suite thatch-roofed chalets.
DAY 2:
Early morning coffee and rusks before we drive to the Olifants River for an amazing BUSH WALK with armed and experienced rangers. You will learn about the smaller denizens of the bush and will learn about tracking and spoor identification. Adrenalin surges will be acute as signs of the presence of the Big Five is everywhere. Return to the Affordable Game Lodge for brunch.
You will then be transferred to the brand-new Luxury Tented Lodge. Lunch will be served in the Lapa and after a rest or swim in your private splash pool, we go to MOTLALA GAME RESERVE for a 3h Big Five Game Drive. Dinner and overnight at the Luxury Tented Lodge.
DAY 3:
We travel to the Kruger Park where we board our open Gameviewer. The absence of windows and elevated vantage position allow for excellent photographic opportunities. You will have an amazing chance not only to view game but also to listen to and smell the African bush and its denizens. There will be regular stops at picnic spots and rest camps. Your experienced ranger will show you many animals and birds that frequent this wildlife paradise. The Orpen-Satara region boasts open plains and supports large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope that attract numerous predators.
In fact the zones we visit have the highest concentration of lions in Africa !
DAY 4:
Enjoy an early morning walk accompanied by an armed ranger. We then drive to the awesome Three Rondawels and the Blyde River Canyon (not available to single travellers, should we not have other groups). Return to Gauteng in the late afternoon. Airport drop-off by arrangement.

5 Day / 4 Night Safari Katekani Luxury Tented Lodge
DAY 1:
Pick up from your hotel in Gauteng or Johannesburg Airport and travel via the Highveld grasslands to the subtropical Lowveld. At Tremisana Game Lodge in the Balule section of the Kruger National Park, unwind at the bar, enjoy a refreshing dip in our pool and relax in the beautiful tropical gardens. Board an open Landcruiser for a 3h Sunset Drive, your first opportunity to experience the varied fauna and flora of Africa. Watch the magnificent African sunset and, after dark, use spotlights to locate nocturnal animals. Dinner will be an unforgettable BUSH BRAAI in the Marula Tree Boma deep in the African bush. Continue the night drive after dinner and overnight in comfortable en suite chalet at Tremisana Lodge.
DAY 2:

You will have an opportunity to view game without intervening glass windows and also listen to and smell the denizens of the bush. We have regular stops at picnic spots, restcamps and places of interest. The Orpen-Satara-Nwanedzi region’s open plains attract large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope that, in turn, attract many predators. In fact this zone has the highest concentration of lions in Africa.
DAY 4:
After breakfast, we travel to the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for injured and orphaned animals and birds. You will have an opportunity to get close and personal to some of the residents, including lions and leopards. Lunch at Katekani. Sunset game drive at Balule. Return to Katekani Luxury Tented Lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5:
Enjoy a Sunrise Walk. After breakfast, drive via the Panorama Route to see the scenic splendours including the Three Rondawels and the Blyde River Canyon (not available to single travellers, should we not have other groups). We return to Gauteng in the late afternoon. Airport drop-off by arrangement.

6 Day / 5 Night Safari Katekani Luxury Tented Lodge
Day 1:
Home/Hotel/Hostel or JNB airport pickup and drive to Tremisana Game Lodge where you have time to have a swim or quick rest in your airconditioned chalet. Board the open Landcruiser for an exciting Sunset Drive. After dark, use spotlights to locate nocturnal animals. Dinner will be an unforgettable BUSH BRAAI deep in the African bush. After dinner continue with the Night Drive and overnight in an en suite air-conditioned chalet.
Day 2:
Early morning departure for the Olifants River where your armed ranger will conduct an exciting 4 h walk in the wild. Enjoy this prolonged opportunity to discover savour the Bushveld’s secrets on foot. You will get a fantastic opportunity to track Africa’s big animals and approach close enough to take a good photo. Return to Tremisana for brunch. After high tea, board the open Landcruiser for a 2 h Game Drive. Dinner and overnight at Katekani.
Day 3:
Drive to Orpen in Kruger where you transfer to an open Gameviewer. Your guide will show you the varied fauna and flora of this magnificent wildlife paradise. Enjoy a full day of bird-watching and game-viewing. Transfer to Katekani Luxury Tented Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4:
After breakfast, we travel to the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for injured and orphaned animals and birds. Early morning game walk with an armed guard to explore the many animals that inhabit the private game reserve. After breakfast, we travel to the Three Rondawels of the Blyde River Canyon (not available to single travellers, should we not have other groups). We return you to your home/hotel/hostel or JNB airport at around 17h00.

| Make your way to the Domestic Arrivals section on the ground floor of O R Tambo Airport.Walk outside to the tarmac road. Walk pass all 3 domestic arrival entrances. You will see a big YELLOW sign marked “Shuttle/long term parking”. It is situated in front of the permit control office. Wait directly beneath this yellow sign. One of our drivers will come to collect you between 09h00 and 9h15 am. Our driver will be in his vehicle so keep a look out on the road section. |
