Day 1: Johannesburg to Sabi Sand
Please note that the night you will sleep in Sabi Sand will varies according to lodge availability. Lodge options will range between Umkumbe Bush Camp or Umkumbe Safari Lodge. |
Start the day early on this intimate small group safari (less than 10 people) from booked accommodations in Johannesburg (the arranged professional pick-up driver will take guests to the shuttle pick-up point). This is included.
The shuttle from Johannesburg to Kruger Park leaves at 6:45 am from the OR Tambo bus terminal behind the Intercontinental Hotel (at an additional charge).
Alternatively, we do collect from Nelspruit airport at 13:15 pm (included) and Skukuza Airport (included at no extra cost -at any time – a R100 landing fee is not included). This provides flexibility to get to the safari.
A scenic drive with fantastic photographic opportunities takes us though the escarpment and the lowveld to the Kruger National Park (when taking the shuttle service from Johannesburg). We advise guests to buy take-out meals at the standard road stop (for their own account).
You will be transferred to your exclusive Sabi Sand Lodge.
Throughout the day, it’s likely you will see wildlife around the lodge – nyala antelope and vervet monkeys are frequent visitors, though seeing some of the Big Five is also not uncommon. You are welcome to relax in your room or at the pool. You could also opt for an experience an African Spa Treatment, imagine doing this while viewing Elephants at a distance.
The afternoon drive extends into the evening and you will be spoiled when stopping to enjoy some sun-downer refreshments.
Your guide will assist with a spotlight so that you may view the African Wildlife during the night activities.
Meals are an extraordinary culinary experience where Traditional African Cuisine fuse effortlessly with Modern Trends. Vegetarians and other dietary requirements also are specially catered for.

Day 2: Sabi Sand Game Drives
The day starts with an early wake-up call between 5h00 and 5h30. Tea, coffee and muffins are enjoyed before leaving at first light. While seeing big game is always breathtakingly impressive, there are many other species as well as birds. Halfway through the Sabi Sand game drive, there’s a stop for hot drinks and snacks, before returning to the lodge at around 9 am for a full breakfast. You can also opt for a bush walk (should the accommodation offer this).
Throughout the day, it’s likely you will see wildlife around the lodge – nyala antelope and vervet monkeys are frequent visitors, though seeing some of the Big Five is also not uncommon. You are welcome to relax in your room or at the pool. You could also opt for an experience an African Spa Treatment, imagine doing this while viewing Elephants at a distance.

While seeing big game is always breathtakingly impressive, there are many other species as well as birds. Halfway through the Sabi Sand game drive, there’s a stop for hot drinks and snacks, before returning to the lodge at around 9 am for a full breakfast.
Be transferred back to Kruger.
Your afternoon Kruger Game Drive starts between 14:00 and 15:00 pm (depending on season).
Animal sightings are not guaranteed, however the chances to spot all of the big 5 on our safaris is very good!
Delicious dinner (catering for various diets) is included after the afternoon game drive. A voucher of R250 per person for dinner and R150 per breakfast is included at the restaurants in Kruger Park.
Exchange stories of Africa and listen to the sounds of the immense wilderness around you.
Overnight in Kruger Park.
Day 4 to 6: Kruger Activities
The day starts early (after the game rangers or hosts’ wake-up call). The start time of your morning drive will depend on rest camp gate opening times (as it differs throughout the year) and you may still be able to see nocturnal animals. April to September, the rest camp gates open at 6:00 am, November to January (4:30 am). February, March and October rest camp gates open at 5:30 am.
Enjoy coffee or tea with rusks/muffins. The morning game drive offers guests the opportunity to explore spectacular wild Africa, to spot a vast array of interesting wildlife.
After the morning game drive, brunch is a hot breakfast with coffee and tea or juice. A voucher of R250 per person for dinner and R150 per breakfast is included at the restaurants in Kruger Park.
Once again, enjoy the afternoon game drive in Kruger.

Day 7: Kruger to Johannesburg

Guests are dropped off at Skukuza Airport according to their flight time (included in the safari rate – Should you overnight at the Sabi Sand Lodge on the last day, we do not include the Kruger Park entry fees to get to the airport), at Nelspruit airport strictly 13h15pm (included) and in Johannesburg between 17:00 and 18:00 pm (included).
